April 1: Today in 1621 the Plymouth, Mass, colonists created the first treaty with Native Americans. This was the start of April Fools.
April 7: On this day in 1969 the US Supreme Court unanimously struck down laws prohibiting private possession of obscene material. And this is what has saved so many quarantines.
April 14: President Abraham Lincoln was shot at Ford’s Theater this day in 1865. The play was so bad Mrs. Lincoln tried to throw herself in front of the gun, yelling, “Kill me first!”
April 15: This in 1947 Jackie Robinson breaks the color barrier, becoming the first African American in Major League Baseball. Black athletes soon move into more exciting sports like basketball, football, and snooker.
April 16: The Rolling Stones release their self-titled album this day in 1964. The tour quickly adds a second bus for Mick Jagger’s lips.
April 22: Celebrating Earth Day this year (2020) by not going outside ’til next Earth Day.
April 25: Guglielmo Marconi, creator of the radio telegraph system, is born this day in 1909. Years later, he finds his life has no meaning when television is invented.
